Ännu en bok läst, denna gång en riktigt gammal bok från 1982 som jag hittade i pappas bokhylla. Krigsbrudar av Lois Battle. Jag hittar den inte på några svenska boksidor, men på Amazon kan du hitta den under namnet War Brides.
Boken handlar om tre kvinnor från Australien som träffat amerikanska soldater under andra världskriget. De har olika bakgrunder och hamnar också på olika platser när de kommer till Usa med sina män. Det är Dawn med sina två döttrar Faye och Nita som blir en klassisk krigarhustru, hon får flytta med sin man till olika baser och lever i stort sett ett olyckligt liv. Det är Gaynor som kommer från fattiga förhållanden men gifter sig rikt – tror hon – och slutligen unga Sheila som lämnar sin familj på trots men hamnar i ett eländigt liv tillsammans med sin man.
Underhållande bok, med gripande öden men inte den bästa jag läst. Hittar du den i en bokhylla kan du ju läsa den men jaga inte reda på den, det är den inte värd.
