De har olika bakgrunder och hamnar ocks\u00e5 p\u00e5 olika platser n\u00e4r de kommer till Usa med sina m\u00e4n. Det \u00e4r Dawn med sina tv\u00e5 d\u00f6ttrar Faye och Nita som blir en klassisk krigarhustru, hon f\u00e5r flytta med sin man till olika baser och lever i stort sett ett olyckligt liv. Det \u00e4r Gaynor som kommer fr\u00e5n fattiga f\u00f6rh\u00e5llanden men gifter sig rikt &#8211; tror hon &#8211; och slutligen unga Sheila som l\u00e4mnar sin familj p\u00e5 trots men hamnar i ett el\u00e4ndigt liv tillsammans med sin man.<\/p>\n<p>Underh\u00e5llande bok, med gripande \u00f6den men inte den b\u00e4sta jag l\u00e4st.
